10 BEAUTY TIPS TO BEAT THE HEAT

beauty tips and hacks for summer or the hot weather

That is not my real face O...lol!

Hey lovelies!
It's my first... well, first 'major' post. I'm really excited to finally set this blog on course! Thank you Dleonalife for the 'hard' push and also for cheering me on.

To be honest, i had no idea what an 'ideal' first post should be (maybe i'm taking this thing
too seriously); an introduction about myself (perhaps), definitely not a product review or something random; yet...lol.
And then i thought to write on a farmiliar subject relatable to everyone and give you a
few beauty survival tips. i'm 'probably' the last person to write on this...lol!

There was no other 'first post' worthy subject than THE SUN!
Boy, it's been real! It's been hot since february and its march but why do i still feel february.
This thing about climate change is real ....bleh! (lemme leave the thing for Dicaprio)
Let's get to our subject for today, BEAUTY TIPS or beauty hacks/guides TO BEAT the heat.

1. EXFOLIATE : As a result of the high temperature this step shouldn't be overlooked. in-fact, this is my go-to beauty routine no matter the weather. it helps slough off dead skin cells that accumulates and give the skin a dull and rough appearance. This helps to reveal a smooth and more youthful skin. A simple but efficient mix-match of honey, lemon juice and sugar would work perfectly.

2. NEVER SKIP YOUR MOISTURE : it makes me extra hot (sound farmiliar?). Well, you are right, but! it might just be that you slather on too much. The measure of moisturiser you wear during the harmattan season should be different from now; but nevertheless, this step should not be skipped. Guess what! unmoisturised skin creates vulnerability (wrinkles, more wrinkles and dull looking skin).

3. HYDRATE AND KEEP HYDRATING : Ever heard the saying, "you are what you eat"? This is so true! A poorly nourished body would definitely tell on your skin. The same applies for hydration. A well hydrated body always reflects a glowy and youthful skin. Don't wait till you feel thirsty(i never do!). Drink lots of water. Eight glasses of water a day is a good practice, but it's not always enough to stay fully hydrated. Eat water-rich fruits and vegetables like watermelon, cucumber or tomatoes.

4. USE PROTECTION : I meant Sunscreen. This should go on after your moisturiser. Be sure to use a good sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays and has an SPF of 30 upwards. Also, wear hats or sunglasses which helps protect the skin around the eyes which is so wrinkle-prone.

5. LESS DROOPING HAIRSTYLES : Big hairstyles that droop, become really uncomfortable and pretty much high-maintenance this season. Fringe/full bangs styles are a definite NO for me this period. Fortunately, there are enough pretty protective tie-it-up options to rock; from box braids to Ghana braids, which are easy-going styles for summer and are also immune to any level of humidity. Hairstyles should be much more casual this time.

6. SKIMP ON MAKE-UP : Sincerely, makeup becomes a mess these times. Especially if you've got oil or combination skin type. A little blotting or makeup re-application upandan(here and there) which isn't the best for your skin. As this tends to clog pores, hence breaking out your skin. This is the best time to let your skin breathe and live. Feather-light make-up is the way to go. Light foundation application, powder, get brows done, eyeliner, lippie and you are good to go.

7. ALWAYS PRIME : This is key! You want your foundation to last long and not slide off? don't skip this step! Apply a good primer that is lightweight to moisturised skin before foundation or concealer.

8. GO WATERPROOF: Thinly highlight your upper lids with a long-wear waterproof liquid eyeliner and finish up your look with a light coat of waterproof mascara on eyelashes. You should use this often for a flawless minimal summer makeup routine.

9. SET AND BLOT THE SHINE : i'm a kohl pencil lover but the smudging has no chill. A trick that i love to use is lightly applying matte black eyeshadow to set and stop the smudge. And also don't forget to set your makeup by dusting a loose translucent powder before heading out. This helps control shine.
Guilty of those unusual touch-ups using powder?(seldom'ly'...yeah), use oil-blotting sheets instead. They quash (new word alert...lol!) shine without leaving powder streaks on your face.

10. CHILL DOWN : Oh yes! My personal favorite. End your day with a cold bath. its simply the best!

And it's a wrap guys! I hope you found something helpful.

Eden Apricot face & body scrub, St. Ives Apricot scrub (they have varieties) and clean and clear morning burst. You can try out any of these scrubs.
Thank you Justina, for reading and leaving a comment.
      Much appreciated!

    2. Please avoid the apricot scrub with AHA (alphahydroxylacid) has it could lead to sunburn.if at all use it at night.

    3. Yes, it does make your skin prone to sunburn and inflammation that is if you don't wash the scrub off your face before heading out in the daytime...but your skin is safe as long as you aren't out in the sun with it on your face. Nobody would wanna step out with facial scrub on his/her face. Lemons have BHA and AHA, that why it's advised that when it's applied (either in combination with other stuff or alone) you should wash your face thoroughly before heading out during the daytime.

Thank you, Tosin for the heads up :)
