REVIEW | My Second and Last Wash Day Using KUI Care Hair Products

Are Kui care hair products good for 4C Natural hair

Nigerian brands haven’t had it any better than in recent years. With the #BuyNigerian movement; which I must be a part of to see and experience the change that I want for her before I am too old to be cool. We are off to a good start, but we certainly need to do more and much more.

In as much as I want to be more positive than negative in my reviews, this is not the case today.
But in a more positive light, I love the packaging of this product; it is really attractive.
This brand has four hair care range; shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioning mist and moisturizing hair cream. I had seen these products on the shelf long before I decided to buy just the shampoo and conditioner.

KUI HAIR CARE product review

KUI Tea Tree & Cinnamon Moisturising Shampoo:

“designed for kinky and curly hair, is a non-stripping shampoo that reduces breakage, prevents both brittle dry strands and an itchy scalp. Hair is kept soft and manageable while retaining its natural oils. Dandruff is also alleviated”.

The shampoo has an off-white silky look and a very pleasant scent, thanks to the cinnamon in it. When I used it to wash my hair, it felt very clarified and cleansed. My hair was squeaky clean and stripped of its natural oils, which is not a good wrap for my kinky hair.

review of kui care conditioner

KUI Tea Tree & Cinnamon Moisturising Conditioner:

“designed for kinky and curly hair, provides maximum moisture to keep hair soft and healthy”.

The conditioner is very thick and creamy and has a very pleasant scent, thanks once again to one of the main ingredients - cinnamon. It is an instant conditioner; i.e, it requires you leave product in your hair(shampooed hair) for at least 5mins before rinsing it off.

Do I like or Dislike it?

I liked that it was budget friendly and both came in 500ml plastic bottles; which contained enough product for the price. The packaging was pretty cool too.

I wasn’t too happy with this product. Sad that it took me two (2) wash days to realize my hair wasn’t the problem.
The shampoo was too clarifying for my hair-type. After shampooing, my hair lost its natural oils that it felt so frizzy and unmanageable.

The conditioner appeared and felt very thick on my palms but that was lost when it came in contact with my hair that I had to keep adding a lot of product to get desired conditioning. After rinsing off the conditioner, that moisturizing effect was lost in 2mins. My hair felt very dry, frizzy and very painful to manage.

So therefore, I wouldn’t recommend this product for my kinky hair(ed) sisters and I am definitely not re-purchasing them. These ones right here have been passed over to my sister with the processed hair.

BTW, I got them for NGN1,200 each. For those who love being experimental; I purchased them at MeiDei Store in Ilupeju (SPAR Mall), Lagos. They are available almost everywhere in Lagos and Nationwide; please click this LINK to checkout a list of their stockists to find one closest to you.

Please, kindly note that this is my opinion and it is based off of my experience using these products - you may have a different tale to tell about it and that is fine; but, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Have you used these products and did you love your results after using them or not?

    1. Hi Debbi. These are my experiences and it's not to bad mouth this brand in no way...and I have seen other reviews and they were good reviews about these products. Yes, it might be different strokes for different ladies. It may do well for you who knows...but you never really know till you give it a try.

  4. Thanks for being honest. I'm all for made in Naija products as long as they work. I was curious about Kui Care but there were some ingredients in the list that discouraged me so I never bought.

  5. Hi Sandra, thanks for stopping by...

I am for the "made in Nigeria movement" too...I was so excited about the price though but was so sad that this didn't work...

"Made in Nigeria" got more work to do.
